Ghana

Although some of the friendliest and happiest people you'll ever meet, the Ghanaians have limited access to modern tools in their society and consequently often face the challenge of living in unsanitary conditions. By volunteering on this program, you could have the opportunity to change lives in a whole village by building systems to bring them clean water.

India

Jaipur, India

Participate in Globe Aware's India program and combat poverty by working with slum dwelling and other disadvantaged children in the community of Jaipur. In this "Pink City," volunteers will work with rescued child laborers, assist at day care centers, and provide support for local teachers, in addition to completing beautification activities for public facilities.

Cusco Peru

Come to Cuzco with Globe Aware and take part in providing educational opportunities for impoverished children from rural households. Service projects include improvements and maintenance to facilities through activities like painting classrooms, creating gardens, or constructing desks and beds.

Vietnam

Travel to Vietnam with Globe Aware and explore one of Vietnam's most picturesque towns, Hoi An, an UNESCO World Heritage Site. Amid the distinctly preserved assortment of Chinese, Japanese, and French architecture remains the devastation of poverty with many peasants left dwelling in sub-par conditions.

Volunteer Vacation Romania

Brasov, Romania

Experience the European spirit of past, present, and future through Globe Aware's Romania program. Volunteers will work in a village on the outskirts of the beautiful city of Brasov, targeting children and at-risk families to fight against poverty and injustice. Work projects include building a Social and Educational Center (a future home for ten homeless families), improving the living conditions of the often marginalized Roma community, and implementing environmentally friendly attitudes towards the local community and its surroundings.

You will be staying at a small town called Dete, which is 2 hours south of the magnificent Victoria Falls and on the edge of Hwange National Park. Hwange is by far the largest Park in Zimbabwe with a huge and varied quantity of animals and birds.

Ecuador has it all: snow-capped volcanoes, plunging valleys, majestic mountains, breathtaking gardens, green valleys bathed by cascading waterfalls, beautiful colonial architecture, monasteries, Indian markets, and little villages lost in the Andes.

Guatemala

Guatemala warmly welcomes visitors to discover its charm and diversity amidst amazing wildlife, friendly locals, and ancient Mayan roots. Visit this lush country with Globe Aware and have a chance to engage in three different work projects to help the impoverished including installing cement floors in homes, working with children at a community library, and teaching classes to children age 7-9.

Kenya

Kenya is stepping into the future. You can help with this process by volunteering in one of the many projects available in the town of Muhoroni, which lies 30 kilometers to the east of Kisumu city. It is mostly inhabited by the Luo tribe with a population of around 120,000 people almost entirely depending on subsistence farming (though there are 3 sugar factories). The people of Muhoroni are always warm and welcoming and the smiles on their faces tell it all. Muhoroni has a warm weather of about 25 Celsius all year round.

Laos is a beautiful, tropical, and mostly untouched country that is becoming an up-and-coming destination for travelers looking for an authentic taste of South-east Asia, due to this, the rewards here are plentiful. It may not be as developed as neighboring Thailand, or Vietnam, though this is exactly Laos' uniqueness and charm. Laos is a relatively safe country to travel to, with a slow and laid-back lifestyle, or Ȋ Bor Pen Nyangȋ as the locals say, "No worries!

Every year, the city usually receives travelers from all over the world, visiting the Buddha Stupa Boudhanath and the Swyambhu Maha Chaitya Swayambhunath stupas. These are famous architectural sites found only in Nepal.

In Globe Aware's Cambodia program, in Siem Reap, you will participate in a variety of projects including teaching English pronunciation and colloquialisms to variety of student populations, working with street children (the program is designed to provide with alternatives to drugs and prostitution), and assembling and distributing wheelchairs to landmine victims.

Mexico

Mexico, Camino del Mayab

The Camino del Mayab is the first long-distance trail in Mexico with a network of 130 kilometers of trails developed in conjunction with 13 Mayan communities seeking to develop to improve their quality of life. The Camino del Mayab is a path similar to the more famous trail that exists in Spain called Camino de Santiago. The area is known for its natural beauty and hospitable communities of the Yucatan peninsula. The project highlights the cultural and historical legacy of Yucatan, taking its visitors through festinating towns, haciendas, and cenotes south of the city of Merida.

Thailand: Hill Tribes

Thailand - Hill Tribes

The hill tribe people live in remote areas scattered across Northern Thailand with little or no access to education. Many fled from conflict in Myanmar or other surrounding countries. This lack of education makes the hill tribe children prone to poverty and vulnerable to exploitation. At this program location, we are working with 350-400 rural communities that cross to Sub Mekong region countries.

There in Orosi, villagers of the small community of El Yaz enjoy their natural paradise, but struggle to make ends meet as their access to sustainable jobs, hot water, transportation, and proper nutrition are limited.
