“This was a great project, helping build homes for those less fortunate. There were some project changes, but Coordinator Gege did well adjusting. Gege made the program. She was so supportive and accommodating, and a great host. For future projects, they should continue building more homes in the slums; the community needs it. ”

“I am thrilled to share our incredible volunteer experience in Nueva Ecija. My family and I had the privilege of dedicating our time and efforts to a meaningful cause, and it was nothing short of unforgettable. It was enriching, inspiring, and filled with joy.
From the moment we arrived, we were warmly welcomed by our dedicated coordinator, Gege, and her lovely family, who hosted us in their home. We cannot thank Gege enough for her incredible hospitality and excellent coordination. Not only was she incredibly organized, but she also treated us with genuine warmth and kindness, making us feel at home every single day.
While working on a school project site, painting classrooms and constructing blackboards, we were struck by the reality of the school’s condition. The chairs were broken, the classroom was scorching hot despite having three electric fans, and yet, the children were so happy, so full of joy. They embraced their circumstances with contentment, and that moved us deeply. Our kids spent the day playing with local children, running around as if they had known each other forever. We baked traditional Filipino bread and distributed it to the community. It was a small gesture, but seeing people’s faces light up as they received a warm piece of bread was deeply fulfilling.
We learned that challenges can turn into beautiful memories when faced with patience, teamwork, and a shared purpose. Visiting a home for children was an eye-opening experience. We met 23 beautiful children, each full of hope and joy despite the hardships they face. We wanted to do something special for them, so we prepared lunch meals. The biggest challenge was cooking using the traditional *Kalan de Uling*, an earthenware stove where firewood or charcoal is used instead of gas. It turned into a fun bonding moment, we cooked as a team, laughed through the struggles, and finally served *adobong baboy* (pork adobo), the children’s favorite Filipino dish. Their excitement and gratitude made every effort worthwhile.
Our experiences over the past few days have shifted our perspective in a way we never expected. We realize now how truly fortunate we are. not just in what we have, but in the opportunities we’ve been given.
Seeing families who live with less, yet radiate happiness, reminded us that we should never take anything for granted. This experience has changed us, and we hope to carry this newfound perspective into our everyday lives, making small but meaningful changes that will last a lifetime. ”

“Everything was perfect, and the work was meaningful! We helped an old man and the community. We set up a local dental charity clinic for the local school and taught oral health, trying to change habits to lower sugar consumption. Coordinator Gege is a treasure who gives 110% of her energy, heart, and soul to your program and her community. I lived with Gege and her family and was in contact with the community. I even went to a party, and another gathering there. There was constant local interaction! Coordinator Gege makes the program! She is so fun to be with!”

“My experience volunteering in the Philippines was amazingly meaningful. I am grateful to the Filipino people for being so warm and welcoming. I felt a deep sense of belonging while I was in the Philippines. I had a moment while we were doing volunteer work where I was stressing that we wouldn't be able to complete all of our work in the time we had. I addressed my concern with Kimberly Haley Coleman and she and I talked for a moment. I remember her saying, "Anyone can write these people a check, but you're here with them volunteering, which is something they don't experience often, if ever. We have people who will complete the work that doesn't get done by LGCY volunteers this week."
Having this conversation with Kimberly helped me realize that this service trip is more about community, support, and togetherness than anything. I want to take this value into my personal life more now. Sometimes when it comes to work or things that HAVE to get done...I find myself placing more value on getting those things done than the value I place in community, family, and love.
I've always felt it's important and meaningful to be a kind human, and spending time with Filipino people in the Philippines has confirmed this for me. From the bottom of my heart, thank you!”

“This trip has been my favorite charity trip I’ve been on. We got to make an impact on this small community and build a home for a family in need. Delivering food to people who could not afford it was so powerful. I can’t wait to do another trip with Globe Aware.
The people I was able to work with, through blood, sweat, and tears made this trip so special and I will always remember it. There was so much interaction that I felt like I couldn’t get enough! I'll be visiting again for sure. Thank you so much for the opportunity to serve the community in the Philippines it was life-changing. Thank you, Kimberly and Gege!”
