Romania Travel Tips

Numerous major air carriers service Romania, with service originating from various points in Europe, the United States, Canada, the Caribbean and South America. Airlines with flights to Romania include Delta, British Airways, Lufthansa, American Airlines, United, and Air France, just to name a few. We think it is worth checking out the major discount booking sites first, to provide an overview of what seems to be out there. We are proud to be one of Travelocity's Travel For Good Ambassadors, as the program is committed to helping people find ways to make a better impact on the world.

Northwest/KLM flies direct from Amsterdam to Bucharest, Delta goes nonstop from New York JFK to Bucharest, British Airways flies direct from London to Bucharest - since British Airways is a partner with American, flying from your departure city via London is a relatively easy way to accomlish getting to Bucharest.

Below find some "sample" prices for the fall of 2007.  These are priced from Houston, New York, Los Angeles, and Raleigh, however, THIS IS NOT LIKE A REGULAR TICKET THAT MANY TIMES IS CHEAPER TO LEAVE FROM A BIGGER AIRPORT--THEY GO BY "ZONES"-- NOT AIRPORTS.

These prices are provided as a SAMPLE and include all taxes and fees--prices will vary depending on a variety of factors including time of year, advanced purchase of ticket, airline, city of origin, etc.

Houston to Bucharest – $729.00

This flight is operated by Northwest/KLM Airlines and involves a plane change in Amsterdam

New York to Bucharest -- $600

This is for a non-stop flight out of JFK operated by Delta.

Los Angeles to Bucharest -- $881

This flight is operated by American Airlines with a plane change in London onto British Airways

Raleigh to Bucharest -- $799

This flight is on American Airlines to Boston, change planes to London, then change to British Airways

Again, these are just a sampling of fares.

If you miss your flight and are delayed more than an hour or two, the group will head on to the program site via train to Brasov. You will then need to get in contact with the person you designated as your emergency contact, whom we will have contacted to give you instructions to take the train to Brasov, where you will then be met by a GA representative to take you on to the program site.

You will be brought to the train station in Brasov early Saturday morning and should arrive back in Bucharest about three hours after departure. Don’t book flights out of Bucharest before 2PM on Saturday.
