There are no direct flights into and out of Laos to the US. You will need to arrange to be in Luang Prabang for the Globe Aware program, where you will eb picked up at the airport.

Airlines currently serving in Luang Prabang are Thai Airways, and Asiana Airlines, but you will very likely first have to fly into Vientiane, the capital. Vientiane is connected with numerous foreign cities, such as Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Pnomh Penh, Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Kuala Lumpur and Singapore. The flight between Vientiane and Luang Phabang lasts 40 minutes. There are three flights per day.

There are flights from Vientiane's Wattay airport to Bangkok and Chiang Mai in Thailand, Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon) in Vietnam, Phnom Penh in Cambodia, Yangon (Rangoon) in Myanmar (Burma) and Kunming in China.

If you miss your flight and are delayed more than an hour or two, the group will head on to the program site. You will then need to get in contact with the person you designated as your emergency contact, whom we will have contacted to give you instructions to get to the program site.
