Cambodia Rediscovered: Conservation & Sustainability
In ________ of 2015, I will join a group of volunteers to Cambodia on a mission to help a struggling community to achieve sustainability. The community projects we will be working on are quite varied, from teaching basic English, building wheelchairs for landmine victims, and several other community self-help projects such as teaching basic 1st Aid.
I will be volunteering my time at a local English School in Siem Reap. Being a native English speaker has a positive impact for the young Cambodian children because they otherwise have very little contact with native English speakers. Along with teaching, I will work with the locals in constructing chicken coops for the families. Chickens are a great source of protein and any surplus of eggs could be used for profit for the struggling families. The wheelchair project will be possible based on availability of parts and in accordance with shipping and customs regulations.
