Easter Around the World
Americans generally associate hunting easter eggs and the easter bunny with the Easter holiday, but Easter traditions vary greatly around the world.
Romania – Romanians wash their faces in warm bowls of water with a red egg and coin for health and good luck.
Costa Rica – In Costa Rica the week leading up to Easter is a major holiday with most residents having the entire week off work and school are closed.
In Poland boys try and drench girls with entire buckets of water. The girls who are drenched are said to be married within the year.
Norway – In Norway special edition crime novels are released, as it is a popular time to read thrillers.
Greece – In Corfu, people throw pots out of their windows on Holy Saturday.
